Jalana Childs scored 31 points and hit the go-ahead basket with 1:56 left to give Kansas State a 67-63 victory over Iowa State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 women's tournament Thursday.
The fifth-seeded Wildcats (19-12) broke a three-game slide and
will face No. 1 Baylor in the semifinals Friday.
Childs, who exceeded 20 points for the ninth time this season,
had a double-double by adding 10 rebounds. Tasha Dickey scored 13
points and Brittany Chambers added 12 points and six assists for
Lauren Mansfield and Nikki Moody led the fourth-seeded Cyclones
(18-12) with 21 points apiece.
The Wildcats, who committed just six turnovers, eliminated Iowa
State for the second straight year despite being swept in the
Childs' jumper broke the seventh tie of the game and put the
Wildcats ahead 61-59. She and Chambers scored three more apiece to finish it.
