LAWRENCE, Kan (AP) -- Kansas signed Kelly Oubre Jr., one of the nation's top forward prospects, to a national letter of intent Wednesday as the fall signing period opened.
The 6-foot-7 Oubre is originally from New Orleans, but moved to Texas following Hurricane Katrina. He plays for Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nev., one of the top programs in the country.
Ranked by ESPN as the No. 10 overall player in the 2014 class, Oubre is averaging 23 points and 7.4 rebounds through his first five games as a senior. He played last month for USA Basketball in the developmental national team minicamp in Colorado Springs, Colo.
He chose the Jayhawks over interest from Kentucky and Florida.
