The non-conference win improved the Shockers' record to 5-0 against Big 12 competition this season in front of a season-high home crowd of 5,046 fans.

Coy finished the game hitting 5-for-5. Shocker Micah Green went 3-for 4 and had two RBI. Jared King led Kansas State with three hits.

Coy's five hits marked the most in a game for a WSU player since Taylor Brown hit five against Central Michigan Feb. 22, 2009. The Shockers combined for 17 hits Tuesday.

TJ McGreevy got the pitching win for Wichita State to improve to 2-2 this season, while Kansas State's Jared Moore (2-4) was credited with the loss.

Wichita State improved to 28-20 overall, while Kansas State dropped a ninth-straight game to fall to 19-27 overall.

The Shockers got on the scoreboard first Tuesday in the second inning. Green singled to right field to score Coy for a 1-0 lead. Casey Gillaspie later scored an unearned run for a 2-0 lead when Aaron Rea grounded into a double play.

Coy doubled down the left field line to score Parker for a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Green's RBI single later scored Coy to put Wichita State ahead, 4-0.

K-State ended the Shockers' shutout in the fourth inning. Jon Davis' single to right center scored Jared King. The Wildcats added two more runs in the fifth — one on Fisher's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and the other on King's single to left field to cut Wichita State's lead to one run.

The Shockers quickly answered in the sixth inning. Wichita State scored four runs with two outs in the sixth to open up an 8-3 lead, including a two-run double by Coy. The Shockers then added two additional runs in the sixth inning.
