The State Championship meet at Hartman Arena - its difficult to describe... unless you're in the center of it all.
"State is war. Every tournament is at a school gym but Hartman Arena is big. It's like you're a gladiator at the coliseum."
But for an athlete who prepares under the adage - hard training, easy combat - wrestling practice isn't much different.
"He gave me this scar right here. He gave me six stitches right in the middle of practice. Blood everywhere and he has stepped up to the level where he beats the coaches and its good to see all his hard work has paid off."
So much so that his goal is to pin his way through the state tournament - like he did through city and regionals - and become the first state champ at North since 1986. Maybe that would get him in the headlines - normally dominated by another North athlete.
"There's definitely a shadow. But hey, I've got to work with what I've got and try to make a name for myself. I'm working on it."
Every great wrestler has a signature move and Caleb's is the double leg takedown.
"That's his favorite move. and when he hits it it's painful.
And we may see it a few times this weekend- as Caleb Franklin works toward the top of the podium.
"Every day i want it more and more. So I'm ready for it."
