Monday night, Wichita School Board members will get their first detailed look at the proposed 2012-13 budget.
At $628 million, the budget is $22 million more than last year's. The budget seeks to keep local property tax rates flat while including the first raise for employees in four years. It also calls for adding 48 teachers, 23 teacher's aides, and anticipates higher cost for utilities and transportation.
The board is expected to vote Monday to publish the budget and schedule a public hearing and final vote for August 27th.
Board members are also expected to approve a tentative teachers' contract. Teachers will conclude voting on the contract late Monday afternoon.
