Storytellers and media producers are being encouraged to use a new center on the fourth floor of the University of Kansas student union.
The center is a joint venture between the university's school of journalism and the Union. It provides three video cameras, a "green screen" wall, a control room and other tools.
Associate journalism professor Scott Reinardy says the center's activities will be determined by those who use it.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports officials envision a community news center. Students, others on the campus and Lawrence residents will be able to use the center to tell stories they can't do just on phones or laptops.
The center opened in September and an official grand opening is likely this semester.
