Students at Garden City Community College will have more academic choices thanks to an expanded partnership with Kansas State University.

The two institutions signed agreements Wednesday that will allow students to attain some associates degrees in Garden City and then
earn bachelor's degrees from Kansas State using distance learning.

Kansas State will sign similar agreements with Butler County Community College-El Dorado, Allen County Community College-Iola,
Barton County Community College and Great Bend.

Sue Maes, the dean of continuing education at Kansas State, says the programs will benefit nontraditional students who are unable or unwilling to attend classes in Manhattan.

The agreements cover associate to bachelor's degree programs in family studies and human services, interdisciplinary social science, fire science, business, and avionics.
