School cancellations due to the recent winter storms will not affect spring break for Wichita public school students.
USD 259 will evaluate later in the spring if it needs to make any adjustments to the academic year schedule, district spokesperson Susan Arensman said. She says there are many factors that the district must take into account.
The district does not have a set number of "snow days" but rather must meet a state-mandated number of "student contact" hours each school year, Arensman said.
The school must have 1,116 student contact hours.
