Men Questioned In Shooting Of Butler Student

El Dorado Police have questioned at least two men in an early morning shooting that left a student injured near the Butler Community College Campus.

Around noon Friday, police officers took a 23-year-old man into custody at a home in Wichita. He has since been questioned and released.

Another man, a 21-year-old from El Dorado turned himself in for questioning late Friday morning.

At least a dozen people were in the the immediate area when shots were fired, with several rounds hitting buildings and parked cars at the Villas at Butler Community College.

Both men were identified by several witnesses as being at the apartments when the shooting happened. Those apartments primarily house Butler students.

The 18-year-old Butler student from Arkansas who was shot has since been treated and released.

A Butler Community College student was injured early Friday morning after being shot at a apartment near campus.

The shooting was reported around 1 a.m. Friday at the Villas at Butler Community College apartments, located near SW 10th and Haverhill in El Dorado near the school's campus.

According to El Dorado Police, one student was found with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police said the shooting stemmed from an ongoing altercation between two groups.

That student, who has not been identified, has since been treated and released.

Police are withholding further information pending search and arrest warrants. It's unclear if any arrests have already been made.

Since a student was involved, college officials are cooperating with police on the investigation.

Shortly after, police were also called to the report that a nearby home had been struck by a bullet. That stray bullet is believed to be from the shooting at the the Villas. No one was injured in that case.
