At least 12 people were being checked out by paramedics after an accident involving 2 school buses.
The accident happened around 4:15 Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 167th Street West and Maple in western Sedgwick County.
Sedgwick County Sheriff's Lt. Mary Mattingly two Goddard USD 265 school buses and a minivan were involved in the crash. One bus rear-ended the other which in turn, rear-ended the minivan.
Mattingly said the cause is still under investigation, but it appears a child up out of their seat distracted the driver for just a second, causing the crash. There were only minor injuries reported and none were transported to the hospital.
A spokesperson for the Goddard school district said the passengers were elementary students. Parents were able to pick up their children at nearby Explorer Elementary School.
