Pulitzer Prize-Winning Poet Oliver Comes To KU

Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Mary Oliver is visiting the University of Kansas this week.

The university says in a news release that Oliver will read her work and answer questions from the audience at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lied Center. The event is free and open to the public.

A second appearance, titled "A Conversation with Mary Oliver," is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hall Center Conference Hall.

Oliver has written 18 collections of poetry.

She won the Pulitzer prize in 1984 for "American Primitive." Later, she received a National Book Award for "New and Selected Poems."

Her appearance is part of the Hall Center for the Humanities' 2009-10 Humanities Lecture Series.
