Friends University President Biff Green plans to retire at the end of the 2010-2011 school year.

Green announced in an e-mail Monday that he will leave the university in Wichita after 20 years of service. He says it is time to move on to the next phase of his life, but didn't elaborate on his plans.

The Board of Trustees' Executive Committee will hire a search firm and conduct a nationwide search for Green's replacement.

Green became Friends' president in 1991. He will be 65 when he retires.
