Pittsburg State University president Dr. Steve Scott says he wants the entire campus to be environmentally friendly.

In forums with faculty and staff Tuesday and Wednesday, Scott said he planned to make environmental sustainability part of the university's strategic planning.

Goals of the effort include becoming more energy efficient, increasing biodiversity and having more green space on campus.

Scott says several of the initiatives have already begun, but much more needs to be done.

The university has formed a Committee for Energy and Resource Conservation. The head of the committee, Jon Bartlow, says the first efforts will be to raise awareness of and develop a plan for a more environmentally-friendly campus.
