What does the city council have to do with the school bond issue...either you want it or you don't...either you want a cassino or you don't. The cassino is a whole separate issue. Duh...While I understand monies from the cassino could benifet the schools...you cannot base your decision on that. the cassino issue is not over either. Make a decision...stand by it...and if you did you voted today!!!
Mulvane teachers have salaries comparable to other school districts our size - are they making what they deserve to do the job they do? Absolutely not! However - teachers salaries are a completely different "bucket" than the money that is used to build our infrastructure ... Again - please utilize your vote based on facts - the BOE is doing everything they can for the teachers and that is a FACT
Is this bond going to get books and materials for our students??? Thats what is important and I also think that if we paid the teachers the money they deserve we would have better educated kids, this is a problem. I have been in the schools and my kids attend and I will say no and if the rest of want to teach the kids of mulvane its not about having the most up to date stuff its about being educated than they will vote NO!!!!
I know that the timing of the bond is not ideal given the uncertain economic climate, however I don’t believe we have the luxury of delay: all of the work is so critical, and is long overdue. Moreover, there will be NO tax impact from this bond for almost 2 years. Further, our infrastructure will only continue to deteriorate, and may well be more expensive to remediate in the future; some items that could be repaired now might need to be completely replaced later, and/or emergency measures, which are significantly more costly, may be required to allow our buildings to remain open if systems fail completely. I am, therefore, urging all of you to vote YES.
How about everyone of the "No" voters come to a School Board meeting or a City Council meeting and understand what is really going on - ask some questions and get the FACTS. At the very least make an informed decision and not one based on speculation or something that may have happened years in the past. Get the facts and then if you vote no at least you have done yourself and your children the benefit of an educated decision.
I dont understand how you think this will bring so many jobs to our community! If resolutions brought so many jobs to Wichita amd other districts, why were so many teachers laid off??? Mulvane is one of the lowest paid districts around, lets worry about taking care of our teachers, getting text books for all students, and materials that they actually need to better their educations. I too believe that my children should have what other districts around here have, but not to many of them have synthetic turf on their football fields, last time I checked most NFL teams still dont play on synthetic turf! Do other districts charge to ride the bus, charge for kindergarten, provide work books to all their students or make it possible for their children to go on field trips??? Big Picture Looked at, whats important and whats not!
Family of five Mulvane voters and all five saying NO!! I want the best of everything for our kids. But not right now. Cap N Trade has the potential of increasing prices on every consumer product and service, has the potential of significantly increasing energy costs, etc. etc.. Health care costs potentially increasing. Unemployment up. Dollar down. Not one of us know where all this chaos is taking us. Wait until things stabilize and then lets revisit this. Stop all this insanity and wait until we can see some light through the dense fog. Now is not the time to raise taxers of any kind by one penny!!!! Eventually, one of these straws will break our backs!!!
Get a grip and look at the big picture. The state is paying 51% of the 40 million plus interest. Construction costs are at the lowest prices in years. Interest rates on the cost of the bonds are at historically low rates. The projects will bring jobs jobs jobs, just like they have in Wichita and other districts that have passed resolutions. With the sluggish economy this is the best time for you to invest in your community and the infrastructure of your schools. Your school schools are the foundation of your community. Your facilities will either attract families that are searching for small town life or they will shop Rosehill, Douglas Clearwater and other districts. The projects would increase your home values for years to come. If you are not progressive your community will continue crumble before your eyes. Lets see what your “quality of life” and “home values” look like then. Look at all that potential for a few bucks a month. A vote "yes" is good for your community.
Our family would like to thank the Mulvane School Board for the support that it has provided for a new stadium, primary school and other improvements across the district. The school bond will provide critical structural improvements, repairs and renovations at all of the district's aging buildings. The bond is scheduled for a public vote on December 8 and deserves the community's full support.
I am voting "yes" for the children in our community. They deserve what every kid in the surrounding districts have. The bond money cannot be used on books, teacher pay or the "Real" stuff. With facilities, technology and other improvements I will stay in Mulvane.
I'll vote NO. I am all for supporting my children and the school they attend, but when there aren't enough text books, parents are suppling copy paper and other supplys that should be part of our enrollment cost, and we go through teachers like crazy, maybe there are some other issues we should address first. We cant have copy machines at the school because we're trying to monitor copies and watch the budget and we're worrying about a bond issue. Mulvane makes an extra 70k off of there all day kind. program, where is all of this money?
I'll vote yes! And the school bond issue has nothing to do w/the City of Mulvane and the utility bills..
I attened the school and my kids have....the last time I check a nice school does NOT give my kids an education, the money woud be better spent on everything they need, books, teachers pay, the REAL stuff that is needed to learn. There are many school over seas that have dirt floors that our doctors are coming over here to practice med.So as I see it the school building doesnt give my child an education. I will support a school bond if its for a true need like book and materials!!!!By the way I live in a 1200 sq. ft home and I can tell you we conserve and my bill is an average of 200.00 month...explain that City of Mulvane
Yes! Yes! Yes! I will support any bond issue that will improve the schools that my children will attend. The need is great and a new school is deserved for kids in this community. Yes, my children will directly benefit from this bond issue. Howeevr, I strongly believe in supporting school bond issues whether you think the will benefit you directly or not. A couple hundred dollars in tax increases is money well spent when it comes to our kids... our FUTURE.
