May 13- Governor Sebelius says she's "fairly confident" that Kansas schools will be open this fall and that the state Supreme Court will move quickly to resolve school finance.
State lawyers have asked the Kansas Supreme Court to block a district judge's order that public schools close this fall unless lawmakers revise the state's education funding system.
The request Wednesday came a day after a final order issued by Shawnee County District Judge Terry Bullock, who said Kansas needs to fix unconstitutional flaws in the state's school finance formula.
Sebelius also told reporters Thursday in Topeka that she's still considering a special session of the Legislature to fix school finance, but she says that will depend on the timing of the Supreme Court's final ruling.
