5-15-07 - Wichita's Earhart Elementary broke ground on a new building Tuesday. It's the final project from the 2000 bond issue. The $285 million bond issue has paid for the rebuilding of six schools and the creation of two new schools.
But the district doesn't want the progress to end there. They broke ground on a new K-8 school in April that's not part of the bond issue. It would also need to build new schools should the board choose to end forced busing.
Earhart Elementary is expected to be completed in time for the 2008-2009 school year.
