Officials of the KU Endowment Association say it set a record in donations and the number of donors during the past year.
The association said Tuesday that the $106.4 million donated and pledged through June 30 was a 13 percent increase from the record $94 million at the end of the last fiscal year.
The association had 45,186 donors, the most during its 118-year history.
Endowment president Dale Seuferling says the record levels of giving during a downturn in the economy showed the public understood the need to reinforce the university's priorities.
KU Endowment is an independent, nonprofit organization that is the official fundraising and fund-management foundation for the university. The association supports university programs, projects, scholarships and other needs.
