2-12-07 - Winter weather has cut into the profits for Girl Scouts across the south and Midwest, but in Wichita, cookie sales are actually up.

As scouts were hitting the Wichita area streets with cookie ordering books in hand, snow and ice started falling in January, especially on the weekends. But despite the poor selling conditions, local sales are 4.5% above where they were this time last year.

Girl Scouts in the Denver area report cookie sales are down 10 percent because of the snow there.

Girl Scouts in parts of Texas and Oklahoma are reporting lower sale volumes due to the icy weather there.

Wichita-area Girl Scouts should reach their goal of selling 700,000 boxes.
