A former Kansas State University student who had been banned from campus since spring has been arrested near the school on suspicion of making criminal threats.

The university says police arrested 20-year-old Borong Liu, of
China, on Wednesday night. The university says the arrest was part
of an investigation into criminal threats against people associated
with the English Department.

A Kansas State spokesman says Liu had been an English Language
Program student and made threats against people in the department.

Student life dean Pat Bosco says classes in the program were
canceled on Thursday as a precaution. Police say Liu threatened
specific individuals last spring but not the entire campus
community.

He was being held in Riley County Jail on $10,000 bond.
