Chapman residents cheered today while students watched as school leaders broke ground on three new buildings.
Students even had a chance to scoop a bit of dirt at the new sites. Last May, a tornado tore through Chapman destroying the schools. Workers will now begin construction on a new elementary, middle and high school for the kids.
"Our staff and our students deserve after using sidewalks for hallways," said Chapman Superintendent Tony Frieze.
For the past year, the students have been going to class in portable buildings. The new schools should be finished by December of 2010.
