With demand for on-campus living areas growing, Friends University will open its third new apartment complex in the past five years.
The $7 million apartment complex is scheduled to open in August. The 49-unit complex will house 82 students.
Friends President Biff Green says the university did not have enough space to accommodate the students who want to live on campus. In previous years, the waiting list for on-campus housing had been as long as 70 students.
The opening of the new complex will allow the university to house about half its traditional students on campus.
Student demand for private bedrooms and small occupancy units prompted the school to build an apartment complex rather than a traditional dormitory.
