Most kids in Wellington will go back to school on Thursday, but some will have to wait a little longer. Summer remodeling construction at Kennedy Elementary School is still under way and many classrooms will not be ready in time.
Wellington superintendent Dr. Allen Hillen says the school is behind schedule because many of the workers hired to do the remodeling were moved to other jobs in Wichita.
The school hopes to be open by the beginning of next week. Kennedy students will have to make up the lost time with lengthened school days.
