Several local teachers traded their lesson plans to watch history in the making as Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States and the country's first black president.
While many students say they didn't pay close attention to the actual election, they are fascinated by the process of the handover of presidential power.
Students at Wichita State also gathered to watch the historic moment.
Many students say this is the first inauguration they have ever seen, and surely one they will never forget.
