Police in Lawrence say they have spent several thousands of hours investigating a series of possibly related rapes.

The most recent happened Dec. 1, and police Sgt. Bill Cory says
investigators "have strong information to believe" the rape is
linked to five others dating back to 2004.

The other rapes were in March of this year, June 2006, December
2004 and July 2004. The attack in December 2004 involved two
victims.

All the victims have been college age women -- three of them
University of Kansas students.

Meanwhile in Riley County, police there are investigating
several rapes and assaults in Manhattan where Kansas State
University is located. Those attacks date back to 2000, but the
attacker's description doesn't completely match that of the
Lawrence rapist.
