Wichita Police are investigating after a father claims his daughter was assaulted by a school bus driver.
The man reported his daughter, who suffers from epilepsy and cerebral palsy, sustained bruises while riding the school bus. A police report indicated the driver has been fired by Durham School services.
A Durham spokesperson says the driver was a woman who had been with the company for six years. The spokesperson said Durham is cooperating with the investigation, and company officials determined the woman should be fired.
The Wichita School District released this statement this afternoon;
"The safety of our students is of the utmost importance. The district is aware of the incident in question and has been working with Durham School Services to investigate thoroughly."
