Board Hears From Public On Reprimanded Kansas Coach

Parents and current and former athletes filled a Hutchinson school board meeting to discuss a football coach's use of profanity that administrators say was handled months ago.

Randy Dreiling was reprimanded for a minute-long tirade to his team in June in which he used the F-word 16 times. The administration has released few details, and some have questioned whether he's being given preferential treatment.

Dreiling has won four Class 6A football championships.

Resident Chuck Sandkey told the board on Monday that a teacher wouldn't get away with those actions.

But Superintendent David Flowers said the incident was "handled appropriately" months ago.

Those who spoke in support of Dreiling focused on the positive impact he's had on countless youth.
