The Wichita Police are investigating a threat made by a North High School student.
Tuesday afternoon, two North High School students heard another student use threatening words and reported it to school security.
Wichita Police were contacted about the threat. They interviewed the student in question and then searched his home.
As police were searching the residence, they found evidence the threat was more that just a students words. A completed, flammable, home-made incinerator device was found and confiscated.
The 16-year-old student was also taken into police custody. He was booked on illegal possession of explosives.
The student has since been released and is at home with his family. Police say this case is still under investigation, and the student should appear before the District Attorney with in the next 48 hours.
Wichita police as well as North High School administration applaud the proactive response the students took. Police say when someone hears a threat of any nature, it's best to tell someone. They say, you never know when the threat could turn into something more.
