Garden City Police Department detectives responded to Abe Hubert Middle School in reference to a report of a teacher allegedly showing explicit material to students on the computer.

The investigation disclosed that a 31-year old male teacher at AHMS was allegedly viewing pornographic web sites on a computer at the Middle School. The teacher allegedly showed several male students the different sites throughout the day.

Detectives will be filing an affidavit with the Finney County Attorney’s Office requesting the following charges to be filed against the teacher: six counts of promoting obscenity and six counts of promoting obscenity to minors. These allegations are misdemeanors.

I'm sure it was in relation to an english reading assignment. Of course everyone has to freak out and act like they care about their kids.

I am furious about this incident. My son is a student at AHMS...we learned about this incident from reading the newspaper. I know for a fact that the school district DOES and has had for YEARS filters and firewalls on all district computers. This guy should never be allowed around students again. Yank his teaching certificate forever. I cannot believe this...I am anxious to see how AHMS and district administration handle this.

A misdemeanor? You've gotta be kidding me. This little so-called man is a teacher. As such, he is held to a higher standard of conduct than the average person. He's a role model. If my children were in that school, I'd be pitching a fit about this. He deserves to be fired and held accountable for his actions. There is no excuse for him showing porn sites to childen. This stinkin' pedophile ought to rot in jail.

Most schools have blocks on almost everything that could even lead to a Porn site.Teens are very quick to figure ways around it. A teacher has no business showing or viewing this at school. The teens will see it when they go home.

The correct spelling is ABE HUBERT Middle School. (Editors note: Our apologies for the mistake. The press release from the Garden City Police Department had the incorrect spelling.)

WOW another teacher!Don't the school districts have filters and blocks on sites of this nature? I know my childrens school does to keep them from searching the web for Porn, the same rule applies to the staff.I bet the Garden city schools will have blocks now,(too late).

This type of thing (and worse) is happening all over the country. Go www.schoolteachernews.com and click on the Scandal Page. They have documented over 140 of these types of incidents since just the beginning of 2008.
