Senate Lowers School Starting Age For Kids Save Email Print

The Senate passes a bill requiring children
to attend kindergarten, and lowers the age for kids to start school
from seven to six. The measure exempts children from attending
kindergarten on religious grounds or if the parents sign a written
objection. The bill now goes to the House.

Whats going on? am I reading this wrong we start school here in Wichita at 5 or six anything after this is truancy I always thought, but mines start preschool at 3 no later than 4.

To Elle: "Can" start- not "have to start"... most parents do send them anyway by that age, except those who homeschool... generally : )

I thought kids could start kindergarten at age 5 in some cases 4 depending on when thier birthday fell?
