Singing To Survive Budget Cuts

This is the sixth year for the choirs at Andover High and Andover Central High to put on a Christmas home tour to generate money for what they need. "It's not a frill. It's really stuff I need for curriculum," said choral director Nancy Dain.

Dain's budget is half of what it was last year. She and her students can only hope this event will bring in about $10,000 needed to keep them singing. A lot of the money being raised will go to pay for sheet music. Just one piece costs $50 and it's illegal for them to photocopy it.

For Dain and her students, choir is more than just music.

"It's one of the best things you can be in, because it brings you together,” said Freshman Bailey Russell.
