A 25-year-old is arrested Saturday and is being held on charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a minor. Just this past week he resigned from a Kansas school.
Haysville police and school district officials aren’t releasing much information about the former teacher who’s now sitting in the Sedgwick County jail, booked on serious charges.
Talk is quickly spreading through the halls of Campus High School in Haysville. This after 25-year-old shop teacher Matthew Williamson resigned Monday, the district says for personal reasons.
Williamson was taken into custody at 8 a.m. Saturday and is now being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
Superintendent John Burke says the district hasn’t been involved in the investigation and he had no knowledge of the former teacher’s arrest.
“Safety of students is of utmost importance, but I’m not free to discuss personnel matters,” Burke says.
Now students want to know what’s going on.
Campus high school students say Williamson was well liked. He had been with the district as an auto-shop teacher for 1-1/2 years.
Haysville police say they’ll make an official statement on the investigation sometime next week after the district attorney receives the case.
