About a month ago, allegations surfaced that an Augusta High School teacher was having sex with a student. Butler County prosecutors now identify that man as Pete Overman.
Shortly after the allegations, Overman resigned, but police say he has so far been uncooperative.
Last week, Augusta police told KAKE News that they had enough information and enough evidence to send charges to the Butler County attorney’s office.
The County attorney agreed that there’s enough evidence to charge Overman with unlawful sexual relations with a minor, a felony in the state of Kansas. They’ve identified the victim as a 17-year-old female.
Overman will most likely face probation, but his teaching license could be suspended, and he could possibly face some jail time because of this.
KAKE News did attempt to contact Overman’s attorney. The call hasn’t been returned.
