One word comes to mind when you visit the Cozy Inn in Salina--tradition. Kelly Redicker remembers going to the Cozy Inn with his Dad. "I think its one of the eight wonders of the United States...it's one of the best places in the world, man you can't beat it," Redicker said.
Dora Purdom lives in Oklahoma. A stop at the Cozy Inn reminds her of her childhood, when her family would grab a bag of sliders and head to the drive in. "even my kids want me to send it to them...take it home, but they never make it home if i do that we always eat 'em on the way", said Purdom.
The burgers are part of the tradition, cooked the same way, on the same grill since 1922. Hand cut onions are cooked with the burgers. The onions give the Cozy its distinct odor and nickname--"The Best Stinkin' Little Restaurant in the USA.
Some people would tell you the Cozy Inn even helped win World War II. The Cozy became a popular hangout for soldiers stationed near Salina looking for a good meal on GI pay. To learn more about the Cozy Inn and the other Wonders of Kansas Cuisine, click on the links below.
