Flaming Strawberries and Bananas over Ice Cream and Pound Cake - August 19, 2005

"Cooking with KAKE" - Recipe of the Week
Ingredients:

  • 4 Ripe Bananas (sliced)

  • 1 Pint Strawberries (quartered)

  • 1/2 Gal. Vanilla Ice Cream

  • 1 Lb. Sara Lee Pound Cake (cut into 12 slices)

  • 4 oz. Butter

  • 8 oz. Brown Sugar

  • 4 oz. Grand Marnier

Directions:

  1. Melt butter in a saute' pan.

  2. Add the brown sugar and heat until dissolved.

  3. Add the bananas and strawberries to the satue' pan and cook for approximately 3 minutes.

  4. While the bananas and strawberries are cooking, arrange 2 slices of pound cake onto each plate per person you will be serving.

  5. Scoop vanilla ice cream onto the pound cake and place the plates in front of your guests.

  6. Add the Grand Marnier to the strawberries and bananas.

  7. When the Grand Marnier gets hot enough, it will catch on fire. When the fire goes out, spoon the mixture over the ice cream on each person's plate.
