An executive with the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services has resigned.
The SRS confirmed Tuesday that Pedro Moreno, deputy secretary for disability and behavioral health services, resigned Monday. It offered no explanation for the resignation.
Moreno was responsible for oversight of state mental health facilities, addiction and prevention services and the Kansas Neurological Institute.
Before coming to Kansas, Moreno worked in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and in a supervisory role with Florida's
Agency for Persons with Disabilities.
SRS spokeswoman Angela De Rocha said that Gary Haulmark, a former member of the Kansas Legislature and legislative director at SRS, has taken over Moreno's job.
