The Wichita Public Library launched a new website called Activate Wichita to get virtual participation on city planning.

The site operates like a virtual town hall. It allows users to propose ideas, second others' ideas, expand upon ideas, and vote on solutions.

The discussions will focus on public services, policies, and institutions. One of the first topics of discussion is how the city should respond to the drought.

"We know this is a community wide issue. It affects everybody," said Ben Nelson with City of Wichita Public Works and Utilities. "We want to make sure that everybody has the chance to weight in and provide us some solutions that they think can be most appropriate to pursue."

Elected officials and city administrators will be logged into the site to provide feedback and project updates.
