Sedgwick County Commissioners approved the $413.9 million budget, which includes the fire district.
The Commission voted, 3-2, to adopt the 2014 budget, with Richard Ranzau and Karl Peterjohn against it.
The 2014 budget has no deficit and shows a small surplus, said county manager William Buchanan.
Today, Ranzau proposed several motions that failed, including funding to keep the Judge Riddel Boys Ranch open after June 30, 2014. The only motion that passed was to add $35,000 to the Sedgwick County Extension Center.
The budget adds a mental health pod at the Sedgwick County Jail and additional funding for Sedgwick County Zoo, Exploration Place, and Child Advocacy Center.
