WICHITA, Kan. — Richard Ranzau has defeated challenger Carolyn McGinn for the Republican nomination in District 4 of the Sedgwick County Commission.
Ranzau had 54 percent of the vote, with 3,382 votes to McGinn's 2,872 votes. Ranzau will now face Democratic challenger Melody McCray-Miller in the general election in November.
Elsewhere, Jim Howell beat Dion Avello in the GOP primary for the district 5 seat on the commission. Howell had 63 percent of the vote, with 4,313 votes to Avello's 2,481. He'll face Democrat Richard Young in November.
