A final budget hearing is scheduled in downtown Wichita Tuesday night before Sedgwick county leaders vote on next year's proposed budget.
Bill Buchanan, county manager, proposed a $411 million dollar budget for 2012. He recommends a hiring freeze, as well as eliminating 78 county positions.
Other proposed cuts include $340,000 to the Sedgwick County Zoo, and Exploration Place, and the county fair.
An increase in EMS transportation fees will also be considered.
County commissioners are expected to vote on the budget during a regular scheduled meeting Wednesday morning.
The public hearing will be held in the third floor of the Sedgwick county courthouse Tuesday at 7 p.m.
