People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA, plans to sue the Kansas State Fair if fair officials do not withdraw a restriction on the group's booth by Thursday.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas and Western Missouri and a private law firm are representing PETA in a potential free speech suit. The representatives issued a letter to fair officials Monday warning they could sue the officials for violating PETA's First Amendment rights.
The Kansas State Fair Board approved PETA's application for a booth at the fair, but restricted the group from playing a video called "Glass Walls" because of its graphic nature.
The Kansas State Fair will be held in Hutchinson and starts Sept. 7.
