False Lightning Strike Report

Emergency crews responding to the scene of a woman struck by lightning, said the incident was a false report.

First responders said a woman was not struck by lightning in her northeast Wichita apartment.

It is unclear whether the woman phoned in a false report, or the victim was shaken up during the storm that moved through Wichita late Thursday morning.

A woman is recovering from injuries after a lightning strike came through her northeast Wichita apartment.

It happened in the 7400 block of east 32nd St. North around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Dispatchers tell KAKE news a 56-year-old woman was standing in her apartment, when a lightning strike came through her window, and hit her.

The woman received minor injuries. An ambulance is on scene providing treatment.
