Update: Tuesday, August 23, 2011
Voters in the city of Cunningham voted Tuesday night to approve a measure allowing alcohol to be sold on Sundays.
Supporters said Sunday liquor sales would attract business to the town, but opponents said it's not right to have liquor stores open on the Sabbath.
Tonight's vote makes Cunningham the only city in Kingman County to allow Sunday liquor sales.

Residents of the tiny southern Kansas community of Cunningham are voting this week whether to allow alcohol sales on Sundays.
Supporters argue that allowing alcohol to be sold on Sundays will attract business to the town of 400. Others like Pat Donelson say Sunday is the Sabbath and it's not right to have a liquor store open on that day.
The City Council unanimously approved Sunday sales in April, but Donelson and friends gathered enough signatures to bring the matter to a vote.
Residents will go to the polls on Tuesday to answer that question. The liquor store says it's seen a 30 percent drop in business since an overpass was constructed on U.S. 54, bypassing Cunningham.
