The best part of donating blood is that you are helping to save up to three lives. The second best part about giving is that after you donate, you get cookies – or another snack – in American Red Cross’ Refreshment Area.
This Saturday, March 10, everyone who presents to donate blood will enjoy a special treat, Girl Scout Cookies. The Wichita Blood Donor Center, 707 N. Main, is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“We are very excited to partner with the Girl Scouts,” said Terri Dunaway, CEO. “It is wonderful when two nonprofits can join forces to benefit both organizations.”
Red Cross has teamed up with Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland to promote blood donation and cookie sales. After giving, donors will be able to enjoy Girl Scout Cookies in the Refreshment Area.
Buy Cookies Saturday:
Junior Troop 40270 from Valley Center will be at Red Cross selling cookies from 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, March 10. The last day for cookie sales is Sunday, March 11. Stop by the Red Cross on Saturday or other cookie booth locations can be found using the “Cookie Booth Locator” online at www.kansasgirlscouts.org.
Girl Scout Cookies are $3.50 per box with eight varieties available: Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Shortbread, Peanut Butter Patties, Caramel deLites, Lemonades, Shout Outs and Thanks-A-Lot. All proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program, less the baker's fees, go right back into the community to fund local activities. Proceeds are used to train and recruit volunteers across the area, maintain and improve camp and program facilities, and pay for planning and materials of program activities and trips.
