At around 8:45 p.m., fire crews were called to a building fire at Spirit Aerosystems, near K-15 and MacArthur.
Sedgwick County Dispatch tells us the fire was called in by someone at Spirit saying a building at the plant was on fire. Upon arrival, smoke and fire were showing from the building's roof. Wichita Fire reported the building was under construction due to recent damage from Saturday night's tornado.
Boeing fire crews and hazmat were assisting at the scene. Company officials have not said which building was affected.
MacArthur was closed from K-15 to Oliver while crews battled the fire, which was under control around 9:30 p.m.
Employees called in to work on Friday may enter Spirit at 47th street south, MacArthur and K-15, Turnpike drive, and 31st street south and Oliver.
The cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
