Wichita fire investigators are looking for the cause of an East Wichita house fire.

The fire broke out in the 500 block of South Poplar around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. The Wichita Police Department helicopter called in the fire to 911 dispatchers.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames showing from the south side of the home. Firefighters made an interior attack, and pulled two family pets from the home. A mom and several kids managed to escape before crews arrived.

Andy Cole, Battalion Chief, said crews managed to control the blaze quickly. However, the fire caused extensive damage to most of the home.
