County leaders voted in favor of cutting grant money to local programs aimed at keeping youths out of jail.
County commissioners approved the measure unanimously Wednesday morning, with Commissioner Tim Norton abstaining. He said voting on the cuts would be a conflict of interest due to his involvement with the Boys and Girls club.
The cuts will affect Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Mental Health Association and five other non-profit organizations.
However the Boys and Girls Club will receive county funds for its program next year.
Commissioners voted in favor of the measure after the state cut grant money by more than $600,000.
