The Wichita City Council granted a $42,500 forgivable loan to Johnson Controls to move jobs to Wichita.
The company makes heating and air conditioning units for homes in Wichita. It makes commercial units in Norman Oklahoma. Johnson wants to relocate part of the company in Oklahoma to Wichita and create 182 employees over the next year at an average of $32,000 salary.
Under the agreement, if Johnson Controls keeps its end of the bargain, it will not be required to pay the loan back. The county and state are also offering incentives to Johnson Controls.
