A child was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a fire breaks out at at Wichita home.

It happened just after midnight in the 1600 block of North Pershing.

When fire crews arrived they received reports that a 2-year-old girl was still in the home. Firefighters were able to rescue the girl. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to fair condition according to officials.

The fire appears to have started in a back room of the home where three children, ages 4, 5 and 7 were playing with a lighter.
