The Republicans who are hoping to challenge President Barack Obama in November are dismissing today's jobs report -- which showed the unemployment rate dropping to 8.3 percent after the creation of 243,000 jobs last month. They are saying the pace of growth still isn't quick enough.

Mitt Romney says, "We can do better." He says the numbers "cannot hide the fact" that, as he put it, "President Obama's policies have prevented a true economic recovery."

The number of new jobs was the most since April of last year, and the unemployment rate is now the lowest it's been since the month after Obama took office. But the nation still has about 5.6 million fewer jobs than it did when the recession began in late 2007.
