The rebuilding of Greensburg continues to draw attention in Washington more than two years after a tornado flattened the southwest Kansas town.
At the invitation of the Obama administration, Greensburg Mayor Bob Dixson and his wife, Ann, are heading to a Christmas reception Sunday at the White House.
Dixson calls the invitation a recognition of all citizens of Greensburg and Kiowa County.
Greensburg became well-known throughout the country in May 2007 when a tornado smashed the town, leaving few buildings untouched.
Since then the town has received worldwide notice for its commitment to rebuilding with "green" technologies and materials.
